Arelis Hughes
Associate Attorney
Arelis C. Hughes is an associate attorney with Hughes & Sullivan. Mrs. Hughes was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, until she immigrated to the United States as a teenager. She grew up in Palos Verdes, California and attended Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, where she ran track and was affiliated with various charitable and civic organizations.
Mrs. Hughes received her B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and her J.D. from Loyola Law School. Before joining Hughes & Sullivan, Mrs. Hughes was an associate attorney with another Orange County law firm, and previously worked as a law clerk and paralegal for many years. Her passion for helping others is what drives her to advocate for her clients during the most difficult periods in their lives. Said Mrs. Hughes, "My compassion, combined with my commitment to do my best, assists me in effectively empowering my clients in rebuilding their lives."
Mrs. Hughes is a member of the California State Bar Association Family Law Section, Orange County Bar Association, and National Association of Women Business Owners. She volunteers her services to assist victims of domestic violence, is involved with Orangewood Children's Foundation, and actively participates in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Mrs. Hughes maintains strong ties to both her family and culture. She frequently visits Trinidad and wants her children to carry on its various traditions and heritage. Her recreation revolves around her nuclear and extended family and close friends. She enjoys skiing and snowboarding, and has taken a recent interest in golf.
