Before joining Hughes & Sullivan, Ms. Kennedy was a Family Law Commissioner with the Riverside Superior Court. Ms. Kennedy handled the largest family law calender in the state of California. In addition to her family law calendar, Ms. Kennedy was instrumental in the success of the Juvenile Dependancy Drug Court. This program assisted parents who lost their children due to serious drug addiction. This was a voluntary program that provided education, programs, career and financial tools to parents trying to reunite with their families in a drug free environment. Ms. Kennedy is very aware of how addiction can affect families in divorce cases.

Prior to being a commissioner, Ms. Kennedy had her own private practice which focused on Family Law, Criminal Defense and Bankruptcy. Ms. Kennedy was regularly appointed by the Riverside bench as minor counsel and routinely sat as Judge pro-tem. While in private practice Ms. Kennedy served as a board member for the Southwest Bar Association for several years.

Ms. Kennedy, who is also licensed in Texas, spent some time volunteering at the Texas Attorney Generals Office, juvenile division. This division specialized in training and educating police officers on the effects of juvenile crime and gang violence. Ms Kennedy was even appointed by the governor of Texas to serve on the Crime Victims Advocates Group.

Ms. Kennedy graduated from California State University, Fullerton and with honors from Western State University College of Law. Her academic honors include; Law Review, Mock Trial, Mock Trial Director and Distinguished Student of the Year. Ms. Kennedy loves going to the beach, snow skiing and reading a good novel.

Personal Note: Going through divorce is the most challenging time in anyone’s life. As a family law attorney it is my job to be there for all aspects of the case. I am committed to educating our clients about the legal process, while at the same time nurturing them through this difficult time.
